The KEA Climate Action Committee

Goals Are:

Climate Adaptation Project
Addressing the challenges presented locally by changes in temperature, snow pack, wildfires,
precipitation, and stream flow.

What is the CCAP?
A project lead by the KEA Climate Action Committee whose goal is to:
(1)Quantify just what impacts climate change will have on CDA.
(2)Share these impacts with CDA residents and elected officials.
(3)Promote adaptations to our elected officials that can be taken to address those impacts.

We do this by using The Climate Toolbox (https://climatetoolbox.org/) which provides us
historical data and models that project what our climate will be in the future. The basis of our
research is focused on the climate drivers Temperature and Precipitation, and the impact that
those drivers will have on CDA Human Health, Lake Health and Wildfire Risk.
Our inspiration, besides a love for the CDA environment, was a similar project done by fellow
volunteers in Spokane. The results of the Spokane Community Adaptation Project can be
viewed at https://pnwcirc.org/spokane-community-adaptation-project.

Who are we?
A group of KEA volunteers that are concerned about the impacts that climate
change will have on Coeur d’Alene.

What we need?
More volunteers!! Please join us if you are concerned about CDA’s climate,
how it is changing, and what those changes will mean for CDA residents. No Science
background is required, just a desire to use learn more about the CDA climate, how it is
changing and to create a meaningful picture of our climate for CDA residents.
