Jet McLaughlin joins the KEA Board

April 28, 20262 min read

Welcome Jet, we are glad to have your good company.

On behalf of the KEA Board of Directors, I am very happy to welcome Josh “Jet” McLaughlin as a new volunteer member of our Board.

You may know Jet from his “Sustainable Culture” podcast, which I personally enjoyed listening to, or from the regular trash pickup events that he organized in and around Coeur d’Alene.

Jet is currently pursuing his B.S. in Environmental Science and plans on completing this degree while volunteering for KEA and working locally. Jet is enthusiastic about joining the KEA Board, and we all look forward to his unique skillset and his contribution to Conserve, Protect, and Restore the beauty of our city, county, and the greater watershed.

Please join me in welcoming Jet to the KEA Board of Directors!

Jet's Bio

Born and raised in a split military family, Jet has grown accustomed to calling many places home. After experiencing life from California to Alabama to Maine, he eventually became a permanent resident of Coeur d’Alene in 2017.

After graduating high school and getting a few years of touring in a rock band out of his system, Jet decided to get more serious about his passion for the environment. He hosted and produced his own podcast called “Sustainable Culture” from 2019 to 2025, aiming to put something of a megaphone to local people making their environments what they are.

He has spoken on multiple panel discussions on sustainability, organized a town hall presenting local environmental issues, and his podcast has partnered with a list of local small businesses and professionals to sponsor regular local trash pickup events.

Currently pursuing his B.S. in Environmental Science, Jet’s goals are to continue his education while actively learning about bridging the gaps between human culture, social growth, and environmental health.

Growing up as a perpetual transplant taught him that to make a home means to invest in one’s culture, both societal and environmental. Volunteering at the KEA has provided Jet an opportunity to do just that.
