Dear Friends,

This week has been a long month! The situation with COVID-19 and our daily routines are rapidly changing.  As you may already know, yesterday afternoon, the Panhandle Health District confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in Kootenai County.  The health and safety of our staff, volunteers and community members is of the utmost importance to us. Therefore, we have decided to close our office until further notice.  Our Board of Directors and staff will continue to work remotely. All meetings of the Board, staff, and committees will be virtual. No in-person meetings will be allowed in the KEA office.  We are also canceling or postponing planned events in April and will continue to evaluate this situation for events scheduled for May and beyond.

We have canceled the Earth Day festival planned for April 24th and postponed the KEA Speaker Series until further notice.  Please visit our website,, for the current status of all events. We will provide additional updates as we continue to monitor the situation, and our COVID-19 response evolves.

These are trying times for us all.  Please take every measure to protect yourself, your family and others by following the guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control and the Panhandle Health District.  You are the reason we are here, and we are here for you! We’re all in this together, and we will get through this. In the meantime, we continue our charge to conserve, protect, and restore our environment.  Thank you for supporting KEA!

With gratitude,

Erin McClatchey

President, KEA Board of Directors
