The theme for this year’s KEA Camps is “BIRDS”. Birds are everywhere, in wood, fields, wetlands, and even deserts. How do birds fly? How many kinds of feathers are there? What do birds eat? How do birds build a nest? What do different bird eggs look like? There are so many interesting facts about birds.
During your child’s day camp about birds, your campers will hike in the forest and stream areas, look for birds (and other types of wildlife) and learn about bird habitats, feathers, nests and eggs. Your camper will make a bird feeder, compare nesting boxes of various birds and learn about different bird habitat needs for shelter, food, water, and space.
Nature crafts and art projects about birds including journaling, painting, clay modeling, plaster of Paris bird tracks (and for older campers – paper mache birds, shadow box art, etc. will be part of each day’s activities. There are camps for children from 4 to 12. Siblings may attend the same camp dates if they are within a year of the age level and the parents agree to younger child moving up to a higher age camp to be with older child.
