This year’s Gala Award Recipients

Art Manley Lifetime Conservation Award:

Doug Fagerness:  Doug  spent much of his career serving as director of the North Idaho College Head Start.  He currently serves as a trustee on the Coeur d’Alene Public Library Board, Kootenai Environmental Alliance Board as the Secretary  and as a rod building instructor with North Idaho Fly Casters.   Doug serves on the board of KEA because, “KEA is our best effort to ensure a healthy environment, today and tomorrow. I feel a need to contribute to that effort.”  Doug is a treasure in our community and we are excited to honor him with this award.

Reed Community Conservation Award:
Beth Paragamian: Beth spent her career as an education specialist for Idaho Fish and Game.  Teaching kids and adults the importance of environmental protection for the preservation of wildlife habitat.  She has done the birds of prey demonstration for many KEA events including Earth Day and the Waterfestival.  She also, started the Idaho Discoveries Camps for youth–teaching about nature, animals, and environmental protection.
KEA Volunteer of the Year Award:
Barb Shay: Barb has been a regular office volunteer for the past year.  She has been available to do many of the ‘behind the scenes’ work that often gets overlooked.  She has spent many hours entering data, putting together bulk mailings, and taking photos for Junk2Funk and other events. She provides valuable support to the staff at KEA.
Community Business Award:
Autumn and Viljo Basso: owners of Syringa and The Bluebird. They have been Sponsors of Junk2Funk for many years and Autumn has participated as an artist. They have supported KEA in various capacities for many years.
New this year!
Youth Conservation Award:
Jordan Lo: You may remember him from a recent board meeting.  Jordan is the president of the environmental club at his school and a former KEA intern. He has also spent time volunteering for KEA in various capacities.

Gala starts at 6:30pm
