Glass Recycling Update

Glass Recycling has been available to Coeur d’Alene residents for almost 3 months. Some of you may have noticed that the recepticle at Bluegrass Park has gone MIA. The City actually moved that receptacle, to Ramsey Park. The other receptacle is still located at Cherry Hill Park. For those of you who haven’t been taking your glass recycling to these locations, please consider doing so. Because the City can use more crushed glass!
As some of you may be aware, Coeur d’Alene Garbage purchased a glass crusher for our glass recyclables. Coeur d’Alene Garbage collects the glass and takes it to the glass crusher. Then they have to haul the crushed glass to another location. Lucky for us there are some innovative folks at the City that are working on using it in some of our upcoming road construction projects. They have plans to use the “cullet” as a base for concrete on project like Seltice Way. This is exciting news! Not only did we get glass recycling in our community, but it’s being used for projects within our community.
So keep sending your glass to the recycle bins at Cherry Hill and Ramsey and encourage others to do so! Together we are creating a more sustainable community!!
